Ideas Shop is a full-service corporate communications agency working with public and private sector clients across New Zealand, Australia and the Asia Pacific. Headquartered in Wellington, with offices in Auckland and Christchurch, the company needed an IT partner that could provide the national coverage and scale of IT service required to support a growing business. The key driver was a robust disaster recovery and backup solution, but Ideas Shop was also looking for a long-term strategic IT services partnership to support the company’s entire IT infrastructure.

Following an RFP process in late 2013, Ideas Shop signed an IT support contract with CodeBlue in January 2014.  CodeBlue’s comprehensive Data Resiliency Services (DRS) Premium solution delivers consistent, predicable access to business applications and information in the cloud without major on-premise infrastructure costs. Backups are replicated between three different locations. A pre-prepared server environment is standing by in a different location so backups can be quickly restored – within in four hours – in the case of emergency.  DRS Premium ensures the company can continue to serve its clients, no matter what happens, from anywhere, with minimal disruption and no loss of data.

Brent White, CodeBlue Wellington General Manager and Ideas Shop’s Account Manager, says CodeBlue’s IT roadmap strategic planning process was used to plan and agree with Ideas Shop how DRS could be rolled out quickly while supporting longer term growth plans for the business.

“We started off the process with an infrastructure refresh project to upgrade the servers; followed by migrating users to Microsoft Office 365; and then moving the company from its old backup servers to the cloud-based CodeBlue DRS Premium solution.  The next step in the roadmap is to refresh the company’s desktop environment. And then we will review the plan to ensure Ideas Shop’s business goals and IT needs are kept aligned, and that its DRS solution evolves with the business.”
