Branch Manager, CodeBlue North Shore
“What I enjoy most is making IT work for my clients. My key driver has always been to make IT practical and understandable for the people that need to use it. When my clients tell me I have ‘made the complex world of technology comprehensible’ by explaining it in a way they understand, I know I’ve been successful.”
I have worked in the IT industry since 1988 and have developed a broad range and depth of IT and business skills through working in various positions, from programming through to IT support and sales roles; and prior to joining CodeBlue in 2008, I ran my own IT consulting business. What I enjoy most is making IT work for my clients. My first role – as an analyst programmer for a company that produced customised, bespoke accounting software – set the foundation for my career-long approach to IT, which is to make technology understandable for the people who need to use it. I am committed to understanding my clients’ business; thinking outside the square to find the best solutions that meet their specific needs. And I communicate the technology solutions in a comprehensible, plain-English manner, rather than ‘techno-speak’.
- Communication – communicating complex IT concepts in a logical, plain-English way that my clients can understand
- Problem solving – thinking outside the square
- Solution design
- Business management.
